What is a Doula?
Coming from the Greek, a Doula is a woman’s servant or slave. Although giving birth is work, this name was found to be more appropriate than “labour support” person, and rightfully so!
A Hypno-Doula will be a highly qualified person to help women from fertility issues, pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.
For childbirth, the Hypno-Doula will be trained at helping in any situation, co-operating respecting and understanding the wishes of the birthing mother as well as the professional requirements of the medical staff.
The purpose of this training is to help women have their control back and allow their body to do what it is built for: conceive, carry and then give birth to a baby.
Beth Smolyk, R.N., will be sharing her experience as a mother and as a registered Nurse and will suggest how to navigate the medical environment. For the attendees to have a good understanding of the different procedures and vocabulary used in such circumstances, Beth will explain and teach how to help a woman during labour and during childbirth, should the woman want the Hypno-Doula ( a “Birthing Hypno-Doula” assisting a Midwife or the Medical Staff)) to be with her during delivery.
Beth is highly qualified in this field. Her ability to share here knowledge and her passion for the subject makes her well suited to teach this material.
Anny Slegten will teach the use of hypnosis, hypnotherapy and other modalities pertaining to conception, pregnancy, post partum and parenting. Anny will also suggest practical and effective business advice on the subject.
Note: Attendance to HYP 301 with Dr David Brown is the requirement to receive a 50 hrs Continuing Education Certificate upon completion of this course.
For the student mostly interested at taking the complete training for hypnotic anaesthesia for surgery, hypnosis for pain control is included in most of HTIA general hypnosis and hypnotherapy courses. In addition: to qualify for the Hypno-Anaesthesia Certification, one must first of all studied and practiced hypnotic pain control on self and clients for about five years, using it for pre- and post-operative support, childbirth, dental treatment etc, until the first opportunity arise to carry out a full hypnotic anaesthesia as a replacement for chemical anaesthesia in surgery. This route is strongly recommended to anyone interested in the field.
